Jeanene Fletcher Burris developed the H.O.T.S. study guide especially for The Lion Of Rora! She holds a Master of Science in Administration from Appalachian State University and is a former principal over curriculum at Jimmy C. Draughn High School in Valdese, North Carolina. She currently serves as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
Prior to becoming an assistant principal, she served Burke County Public Schools as the Middle School ELA Instructional Coach where she mentored beginning teachers and facilitated reading practices that would ensure student mastery on every level. During her tenure, average reading proficiency scores in the county rose eighteen percentage points.
Jeanene has been married to a Waldensian man for thirty-three years and has raised four beautiful and independent daughters. She feels strongly that the story of the Waldenses is one of sacrifice, perseverance, and tenacity: the very qualities on which this country was founded. She is proud to share that her husband, as well as her daughters, exhibit these qualities every day, which makes for a VERY interesting and exciting life!
